BAPTISMS, CONFIRMATIONS WEDDINGS & FUNERALS
"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38-39
Baptism
Baptism is the response to believing the good news of Jesus Christ.
At St Tom’s we take seriously the instruction that all those who want to call on God are to repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ.

Confirmation
A person who has previously been baptised will be Confirmed as a way of declaring their adult faith. In the Anglican Church, the bishop Confirms the candidate by laying hands upon them and praying for them.

Weddings
The prayer book teaches that marriage in the Anglican Church is the union of a man and a woman in a lifelong partnership in which they are called to unite in heart, mind and body, to enrich and respond to each other and grow in tenderness and understanding. It is a gift from God and a symbol of God’s unending love for his people.

Funerals
God’s good news proclaims Jesus Christ to be our living Lord, who laid down his life for us.
Funerals and Memorial Services at St Tom's proclaim our hope in the face of death: Jesus’ resurrection is the promise of our own.
St Tom's has a Funeral Planning and Information form to assist in planning a funeral.
