MINISTRY TEAM
'Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.'
-Hebrews 13:7 NIV

Tzeh Yi (Joey) Chan
Acting Vicar
Chinese Congregations Minister
中文堂牧師
Joey is a pastor at St Thomas’ Anglican Church, Burwood, with a heart to help people connect with one another and with the gospel across cultures. He grew up in a Malaysian Chinese background and speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, English and Malay, though not all of them fluently. In everyday life, he enjoys good food over fancy meals—especially something simple and tasty like a plate of curry laksa. He loves the music of J. S. Bach, but more often finds himself listening to the stirring, uplifting works of Edward Elgar, which help him to stay alert and refreshed in both ministry and daily life.

Rachel Gijsbers - Hayman
Generations Minister
Rachel is a children’s and families minister who loves sharing the gospel in a way that inspires creativity, fun and delight in the hearts of children. Her ministry to children and families is focused on helping kids develop a deep friendship with Jesus and creating a safe space of belonging at St Tom’s. Rachel is passionate about running events such as Messy Church services, church retreats, and other programs where people feel they belong and can connect over the gospel. In her final year of study at Ridley College, Rachel has enjoyed the opportunity to develop her personal understanding of God and is excited to use this learning to continue finding new ways for kids and families to meet and grow in love for Jesus.

Tracy Chen
Youth and Young Adult Minister
青少年与青年事工传道
Tracy is an Anglican youth minister and theology student in Melbourne who is passionate about walking alongside youth and young adults as they explore faith, Scripture, and life with Jesus. She loves helping young people grow a faith that is thoughtful, resilient, and genuine, and she cares deeply about creating spaces where they can ask honest questions, be shaped by God’s word, and learn to follow Christ in everyday life. Her ministry is grounded in biblical teaching, discipleship, and pastoral care, with a desire to help the next generation know Jesus deeply and live for him with courage and wisdom. As a mum of three, Tracy brings warmth, honesty, and a relational heart to her ministry, and she values walking with people through both the joys and challenges of life and faith.

Hannah Parkin
Administrative Assistant
Hannah works part time as St Tom's admin assistant, ensuring that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. She enjoys supporting St Tom' ministries by completing the everyday tasks and coordinating volunteers so that the gospel can reach more people and transform lives. Hannah is also a university student and in her sparetime enjoys crafty activities and hiking in God's wonderful creation.

Noah Carrick
Ministry Intern
Noah is a theological student and is currently serving at St Tom's as an intern under Tracy, where he has the joy of leading and investing in young people through the church's youth and young adults ministries. He is very passionate about evangelising to others, helping people grow in their faith, understand God's Word, and see how the gospel shapes every part of life. He loves walking alongside young people as they ask big questions, build meaningful relationships, and learn what it means to follow Jesus.
