SAFE MINISTRY

St Tom’s is committed to practising ministry that is Open, Supervised and Safe.

All St Tom's ministries are run by volunteers and staff members that have completed relevant checks, training certificates and clearances as mandated by the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne to make sure that children and vulnerable members of our community are treated with care and respect.

Every volunteer at St Tom’s needs to complete ‘Safe Ministry Essentials (M1)’, a short course for volunteers, lay position holders, and staff to develop awareness of the Diocesan Safe Ministry policy, protocols, procedures, and practices. This needs to be completed every 3 years.

Volunteers in leadership positions and all those that work with children are required to complete ‘Safe Ministry with Children M1 & M2)’, a course that develops awareness of Child Safety for all children and youth volunteers. This is completed every 3 years.

As well as the ‘Safe Ministry with Children M1 & M2’ course, all St Tom's volunteers in leadership positions and all those that work with children have:

  • A current WWCC

  • A National Police Check

  • Clearance for Service issued by the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne
